There are currently 1,052 properties inscribed on the World Heritage List, spread across 165 countries, classified into three categories:
Cultural properties, whether monuments, sites or areas of outstanding universal value from the point of view of history, art, science or anthropology.
Natural properties, such as natural monuments, geological formations or natural sites that are of outstanding universal value from an aesthetic, scientific, conservation or natural beauty perspective.
Mixed properties: these are properties that contain both cultural and natural elements of outstanding universal value.
